  • http://dartboard.tumblr.com/ It's not about living longer, it's about the quality of life lived. The Future Tomorrow is a funny concept. What really defines it other than a clock hitting 12 AM. You go to sleep when it’s dark and you wake up and it’s bright. We’re always waiting for tomorrow and always putting things off. Why do we put things off that can be done and done now? If you didn’t need to sleep, how would you define tomorrow? It seems that tomorrow means “Let me sleep on it.” It may be wise to sleep on some thoughts and ideas but for the most part it’s procrastination. Procrastination and motivation are two ideas that people will likely never solve because the path of least resistance means, no resistance and action at all. I’ve heard suggestions of to-do lists and other little reminders and I’ve seen people dismiss those notifications that pop-up to get your ass in gear. There is no trick in motivation, it’s just letting yourself know that this needs to be done and doing it instead of sitting at your desk or lying on your bed because you do it later. Taking the commitment to doing things now is most important. An important step is reminding yourself to act on things instead of specifics. Wear a rubber band on your wrist with a message to yourself. “Get going” or “Just do it.” (a la Nike). Challenge yourself instead of inundating yourself with the task. Every task needs to revolve around a need instead of being something you need to check off. Having that external urgency isn’t all you need, it’s a personal challenge that becomes something internal. A prize at the end of the tunnel is worthless if the tunnel is a thousand miles long because sooner or later the pain of hard work overcomes determination. Make your plans short and make them in steps. 21 days of no procrastination and a personal fine for every task delayed. This fine isn’t in money but in time.
